Diddy Excitement on Saturday Night ** For Full League Results see Team Meets

on 18 September 2015
The Third and final Round of the Milton Keynes Junior League - the Diddy - was held on Saturday 12th September.

Our A Team travelled to Guildford where they competed against Oxford, Ealing, Staines, Teddington and Guildford in Gala 1 of the Third Round and the B Team travelled to Aylesbury for Gala 2, which was hosted by Maxwell SC alongside Bicester Blue Fins, Windsor, Wycombe and Harrow SC.

This time there was excitement and a great Team spirit from the A Team. We had a total of 10 first places and 8 second places from the 49 events. Congratulations to Ruby Fraser who won both her events and also to Sean-Patrick McGowan, Isabella Woollard, Billy Lee-Knowles and Harry Lee-Knowles, who also won their events. contd...... The 12 year old boys continued their absolutely amazing unbeaten Relay record and the Canon Relay, which is the undisputable highlight of the whole evening, was won by Hillingdon - who stormed home in 2.01.33 minutes. In fact, having won the last 3 events of the Gala, these being the 12 year Girls and Boys Freestyle Relays and then the Canon, the noise and cheering from their Hillingdon team mates and supporters on poolside and in the gallery was ear piercing! The overall winners of this Gala and therefore the League, were Guildford SC and they will go on to represent the League in the Southern Region Final.

The fortunes of the B Team went rather less well. Many thanks to the four swimmers who stepped in at very short notice to cover sickness - without them we would have struggled to get a Team together. Unfortunately we had a total of 5DQ's - always a learning opportunity. But big congratulations go to Gabriella Neal who swam a great 50m Freestyle to win our only first place, and then followed it up with a great 50m Fly to win a second place and also to Oliver Latham who swam a very exciting 50m Breaststroke to win our other second place. New coach Teddy Loveridge came along to help Lesley on poolside and although there was our usual liveliness and fun on poolside, unfortunately the noise wasn't always in support of their Team mates races! We ended up coming 6th out of 6 Teams, but a good time was had by all.

It is always sad to say goodbye to our loyal 12 year olds, some of whom have been representing Hillingdon SC in the Diddy League for the past 4 years since starting out as 9 year olds. They have been fantastic swimmers and we shall really miss them - they have set very high standards for the younger swimmers to live up to! Good luck as they move on to represent the Club in other Teams.

Very many thanks to the poolside parent helpers and timekeepers and to Gillian Neal and Jane Woollard who are always happy to Officiate on behalf of HSC.
And also to Lesley, Head Coach RNSS whose enthusiasm alongside Gary Mohamed, means that we enter both an A and B Team into the League and that about 60 of our young swimmers with some Sea Byrds swimmers too, get to enjoy this great experience.

Sue Gleeson will take over fully as Diddy Team Manager from Jane Wareing next year and will be looking for a volunteer parent from the B team to assist her.
Do consider doing this job - its lots of fun and great to be part of the action!
