It was with sadness that Hillingdon Swimming Club announced the departure of RNSS Head Coach, Lesley Westendorp in December.
Lesley coached the RNSS Squads for twelve years, ten of which were as Head Coach. She gave her heart and soul to all the swimmers and possessed the unique ability to bring the very best out of each individual.
Lesley relished training the younger swimmers, so as to give them the very best technque and swimming commitment on which to build and develop their swimming career, either in the RNSS House or as a feeder to the HBEST House. Many of her swimmers went on to achieve National successes and some to compete in International events.
Lesley's coaching ability was of the highest possible calibre and she had an amazing ability to remember most of her swimmers times off the top of her head! Her indomitable force combined with her calm and patient manner, helped all swimmers to reach their full potential, leading to individual and team success which collectivey brought repeated Club glory. Under her supervision Hillingdon Swimming Club were often awarded 'Top Club' at many Galas, plus under Lesley's drive our Club 9-12 year olds achieved outstanding successes at the Diddy Competitions and in 2013 came second in the hugely competitive National Junior Arena League Final. Likewise, under her coaching our swimmers repeatedly brought success to the Borough at the Mini and Youth Games.
Lesley will be greatly missed by swimmers and parents alike and we send her our very best wishes as she enjoys a well earned rest allowing her more time to spend with her family. Thankyou Lesley.
Julie Stokes, Head RNSS
