London Region Open Water Championships

on 13 July 2016
On July 10th, a team of 6 swimmers competed at the London Open Water Championships at Surrey Docks.  All were entered in the 1500m race and came back with some great results.  This competition also acted as the Middlesex County Open Water Championships.  Aarian Lally, who has already qualified for ASA Open Water Nationals, was using the race as preparation, and ended up coming 1st in both the London Region and Middlesex County!  To top that off, Aarian came 2nd overall in the race, only loosing out by a few meters to swimmers 4 years older than him.  The rest of the boys, Oliver Latham picked up 2 silvers for the London Region and Middlesex County finishing behind Aarian. His placings mean Oliver has been invitied to the ASA Open Water Nationals.  The younger age group had Will Hensman, who came 4th in London and picked up a Bronze in the Middlesex County.  Rounding up the boys, Cameron Bartholomew came 5th in London and 4th in Middlesex County.  The Girls, Emily Driver achieved the same feats as Aarian and came 1st in both the London Region and Middlesex County. Like Oliver, she has also been selected for ASA Open Water Nationals at the end of this month.  Macey Willis came 3rd but unfortunately made a slight mistake on the finish and was disqualified but swam the house down!  Well done team - we look forward to having more swimmers and success at Open Water next year!
