The weekend of the 9th/10th of June saw the Elite 3 swimmers racing at the Reading Meet. Having almost every member of the squad in attendance lead to a great buzz on poolside from the off which continued through-out the weekend. With the large number of Hillingdon swimmers attending the meet it often caused some Hillingdon filled heats, allowing a lot of the swimmers to race each other. This built upon the positive racing environment that could be seen on the weekend. The most positive aspect of the weekend was the variety of events being swum by swimmers who often wouldn’t have chosen to race such events, the 200m fly being a particularly tough event which was taken on by a number of the Elite swimmers. This led to swimmers gaining some fantastic race experience on a large variety of different events.

The gala was a great day overall. Started off with the right mindset with a group poolside warm up, the swimmers implementing what they have learned in training on race day, which is what all the coaches want to see. This is evident in the pool as well, as the coaches noted a significant increase in technique standard across all the squads that competed.  There was outstanding enthusiasm from all the swimmers, Hilligdon having by far the biggest vocal support (which was noted by the announcers of the gala) and even an eagerness to help the coaches in any way they could.

Special shout out to Zabel Ebohon for being top girl at the meet with a gold medal in all the events that took place at the gala.

All medal winners from the day
Zabel Ebohon, Isabelle Stone, Crosby Beran, Zara Mohamedali, Diya Kohli, Liam Treanor, Max Kopzyck, Joshua Chirita, Tara De Jager, Bailey Sapsed, Benjamin Kustrin, Harry Bowley, Antonio Mo and Cassandra Struc

Well done all swimmers and thanks for all the officials who help and supported the event!!
