The weekend saw Hillingdon Swimming Club take part in the M11 Junior League Meet, with a mix of swimmers ranging from Elite 2 to Academy squads the meet was a great chance for competition and fun to be had. Overall the team finished 4th, with a fantastic display of skills on show from all swimmers. Most impressive to the coaching team was the underwater work being shown from all swimmers from starts and turns.
It was also great to see so many parents coming along to support the team as well, which further encouraged the swimmers, this then built upon the brilliant poolside attitude of the swimmers standing and cheering on each other though-out the meet.

Earlier this month, Taylor Lovelock, Conor Fallon and Loulou Vos travelled to Eindhoven for the International Swim Cup / Dutch European Championships Selection Meet. For Taylor and Conor, it was their first international meet and an eye opener to senior level international swimming. On arrival, the team trained in the competition pool on the Thursday evening amongst an erray of clubs from other nations including Germany, Spain, Belgium, Slovenia and of course Holland.

On Day 1, Conor and Taylor started the meet positively with good early morning swims and Taylor PB's in his 200 Free. The highlight of Day 1 was Loulou's 200 Freestyle where she won the B Final in a lifetime best and club record of 2:00.37 and beat previous World and Olympic swimmers from other nations.

On Day 2, Loulou qualified for the A final in the 400 Freestyle early on and Taylor had a fantastic 100 Freestyle with a big PB (53.45). In the evening, Loulou again achieved another lifetime best and club record in the A final, just missing the auto qualifying time for European Championships by 0.8s.

Day 3, saw the best performance of Conor's in the 200 Back to achieve a lifetime best in the 200 backstroke and Loulou finished 4th in the 800 Freestyle final and the fastest Dutch swimmer in the event.

The weekend was a fantastic experience for all 3 swimmers that they can all use at meets still to come this season. Loulou has since been selected for European Championships as a result of her performance in the 200 Freestyle in Eindhoven. Congratulations Loulou on your first senior international!

A small group of Elite 2 swimmers raced at the Rushmoor Royals Level 1 Spring Meet at the Aldershot Garrison. For the younger swimmers, this was the 1st Long Course Meet of the season and the first competition since the Cyprus Training Camp.

Without a swim down pool, swimmers were asked to race a lot without recovery and they adapted well, with PB's and some very good Long Course Swimming.

Well done Swimmers.

Weekend of March 9th/10th/11th, Middlesex County took a team of swimmers to the FFN Golden Tour Camille Muffet Meet in Paris to race.

Hillingdon had 4 swimmers racing, Dillon Chana, Cara O'Toole, Amirah Otulana & Niamh Barber, as well as Coach Matt being selected for the Team. (Note Loulou Vos and Ben Hooper were also selected but unavailable)

The high quality meet was a great experience for them, with them all making at least 1 final, their first International Standard Finals and Cara making the Senior A Final.

Not only did they swim fast, they gained a lot from the experience, had praise from the Middlesex Team in terms of their behavior and attitude, representing Hillingdon to the Up most. The meet also had the opportunity for them to talk to and meet Olympic Swimmers such as Olympic Champion Pernille Blume from Denmark and Olympic Medalists Jazz Carlin and Siobhan Marie O'Connor.

Well done Swimmers

17 swimmers went to the Sheffield Premier Meet on March 23rd-25th at the National Swimming Pool, Ponds Forge. A mixture of swimmers went, some using it as a practice meet, others for posting National Rankings Times in order to qualify early and some younger swimmers using it for experience.

It was an extremely positive meet, with lots of swimmers PB'ing and posting some very fast times.

Thanks to Teresa and Belinda for Team Managing.

Well done Swimmers

On the weekend of the 17th/18th March, Hillingdon swimmers braved the adverse weather conditions and travelled to Barnet for the Harrow Regional Qualifier Meet. Hillingdon quickly took over the pool side with a sea of green and almost 100 swimmers in action representing the club. Well done to all the parents for still attending the meet despite the snow and ice and a big well done to all the swimmers for the fast swims, especially those who managed to attain regional times and some of the younger Academy swimmers opting to swim some of the bigger distance events.

The Middlesex Development Meet took place over the previous weekend and provided swimmers with a fantastic opportunity to compete in a County standard pool. With almost 70 swimmers from Hillingdon taking part the meet was certainly a busy one for the swimmers, coaches and team managers. With that being said the poolside was a sea of green and the large number of Hillingdon swimmers created a really positive environment over the weekend.

Right from the start Hillingdon swimmers were setting a number of PB’s across a variety of events, which continued through-out the weekend. Coinciding was this was the high quality skills on display from the Development squads and the large number of Academy swimmers braving the 200m swims, all of which had the coaches highly impressed. Well done to all swimmers involved and the parents for motivating and supporting the swimmers and a big thank you to all those who volunteered to assist poolside either with the running of the meet or with the Hillingdon swimmers.
